Thompson participated in on-court drills ahead of Golden State's 101-96 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans at Smoothie King Center. After warming up, he walked over to a couple of young fans and completed the usual routine of signing autographs on various forms of memorabilia.
However, before he went into the locker room, Thompson signed the basketball he used for warmups and tossed it into the Smoothie King Center seats.

Thompson, who hasn’t played in an NBA game in 31 months, could return to the court Sunday for a matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Chase Center.
Coach Steve Kerr said after Thursday's game that Thompson and the Warriors will practice Saturday, and the decision of whether the Splash Brother will play will be up to team director of sports medicine Rick Celebrini.
