Klay says Warriors return ‘coming very soon' during IG Live

A lot happened in the world of Warriors star Klay Thompson on Monday.

Thompson, who is nearing a return from a torn right Achilles, participated in shootaround with the Warriors in the morning. A short time later, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported, citing sources, that there is "optimism" Klay will play against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday at Chase Center.

A few hours later, Thompson warmed up with Steph Curry and Draymond Green prior to the team's game against the Miami Heat at Chase Center, much to the enjoyment of the fans in the building.

In between, Thompson got in his boat and crossed the San Francisco Bay to his home in the Marin area. As has become customary, he went on Instagram Live for a portion of his ride home.

With Woj's report causing a buzz, a lot of the comments during the IG Live session had to do with his potential return this weekend.

"It’s coming," Thompson said less than three minutes into the session. "Cannot wait to hoop again, It is coming. It is coming."

"I’m almost ready," Thompson said a minute later. "Almost. Almost there. Hang in. I’m almost there."

Warriors fans have been waiting patiently as Thompson has rehabbed for nearly 31 straight months. Over the last few weeks, he has warmed up at Chase Center before fans are allowed to enter the building. On Monday, he returned to his normal pregame warmup slot alongside Curry and Green.

"I’ll be back soon, people," Thompson said on Instagram Live. "I’ll be back soon. It’s been a long journey. But guess what? Smooth waters never made a skilled sailor. So, I’ll be back soon."

Towards the end of his IG Live session, Thompson recapped his morning at shootaround.

"Feeling good, bro," Thompson said. "Feeling good. Got some shots up today. played some 4-on-4. It's coming. It's coming very soon."

Wojnarowski reported that the Warriors will make a final decision on Thompson's return date after they get back Friday from their two-game road trip to Dallas and New Orleans. Coach Steve Kerr didn't provide much of an update on Thompson when talking to reporters before Monday's game, but he did say it is "possible" the five-time NBA All-Star plays Sunday.

It's obviously not official, but Sunday fits the definition of "very soon." Get ready, Dub Nation.
