Kevin Durant explains why the Warriors need to shoot more 3-pointers

It's a very small sample size, but the Warriors aren't shooting many 3-pointers so far this season.

Through three games, Golden State is averaging 24.7 attempts per game from beyond the arc -- the fifth fewest in the NBA.

Here is where the Warriors ranked the previous four seasons under coach Steve Kerr:
2014-15 = 27.0 attempts = 4th most
2015-16 = 31.6 attempts = most
2016-17 = 31.2 attempts = 5th most
2017-18 = 28.9 attempts = 17th most

The Warriors went 7 of 29 from distance Sunday night in Denver, and are shooting 32.4 percent as a team this season (24th in the NBA). But after the loss, Kevin Durant did not sound concerned.

"I think Klay's been getting great looks, obviously Steph's been knocking them down," he told reporters in the locker room. "I'm 1 for 10 on the season, so luckily we got 79 more games to go to get the rhythm back, so hopefully we start knocking them down. We need to get a couple more up just for the flow of the game.

"We put them on the line 42 times. For us, we like the flow, we like to get a few possessions in a row -- tire teams out with our movement, our body movement, ball movement.

"But the fouls, getting in the bonus early in the quarters, it has a little bit of an effect on us."

Durant is correct in that Klay is getting great looks from deep because he is:
1 for 1 on "tight" 3-pointers
0 for 6 on "open" 3-pointers
1 for 9 on "wide open" 3-pointers

Durant, meanwhile, isn't getting greak looks because he is:
0 for 5 on "tight" 3-pointers
1 for 4 on "open" 3-pointers
0 for 1 on "wide-open" 3-pointers
