Kerr's message about Wiseman in relation to Steph's timeline

James Wiseman's future with the Warriors has been a topic of discussion the last couple of months.

And that conversation only will intensify as we get closer to the NBA draft lottery (June 22) and the NBA draft (July 29).

Will the 20-year-old center -- who is recovering from a meniscus tear in his right knee -- develop fast enough to be a significant contributor alongside Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson?

We know the championship window for that core probably remains open only for a couple more seasons.

"The thing that everybody is going to talk about is Steph's timeline. And I understand that. It's a legitimate concern," Steve Kerr said this week on The TK Show podcast with The Athletic's Tim Kawakami. "What I would say is -- I think James is gonna help us win games next year.

"And it's OK if he's not playing 30 minutes because we can win games with [Kevon] Looney on the floor [and] we can win games with Draymond playing five.

"So I think this is all really a good way for us to be good in the next couple years and to solidify an important position at the center spot for the next decade as well. Those things are not mutually exclusive.

Why Kerr confidently states Draymond is ‘best defender in the world'

Podz contemplated hitting ‘night night' celebration vs. Bucks

"It's just everybody's sort of in this panic of, 'You gotta take advantage of Steph's timeline.' Which I understand, but it's just not that simple."

Kerr is right in that there are a lot of variables at play and there are many moving parts.

So much can change in the NBA in a short amount of time, so it's anybody's guess as to what will unfold as it relates to who exactly will be rocking a Golden State uniform on Opening Night.

But it's safe to assume the Warriors will be aggressive when it comes to upgrading the roster.

What does that mean for Wiseman specifically? We will find out this summer.
