LOS ANGELES – Warriors coach Steve Kerr, now in the eighth week of his leave of absence, is on the road with the team for the first time this regular season.
Kerr, still recovering from two back surgeries performed during the summer, addressed the players prior to shootaround Thursday morning at Staples Center.
“He had a phenomenal message to the guys earlier today,” interim coach Luke Walton after the session. “And it’s just nice having him around at home all the time, so it’s a good feeling to have him with us on the road.”

Asked to divulge the tone or content of the message, Walton grinned and declined.

“That was a message for the players,” Walton said. “But it was good. I can tell you that. It was good.”
There still is no timetable for Kerr’s return, as he continues to cope with painful symptoms and uncomfortable side effects in the wake of his surgeries.
