Kerr reveals Warriors' No. 1 goal for rest of regular season

The Warriors' regular season fate has yet to be decided.

With three games left to play, Golden State currently holds the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference and if the season ended today, the Warriors would host the sixth seed at Chase Center in the first round of the playoffs.

The Warriors have continuously stressed the importance of health over conference seeding, but now they have just one main goal, and that's to claim homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

"Well first goal is to secure homecourt advantage, so we need one more win for that," coach Steve Kerr told reporters on Tuesday. "That's the tangible goal, the intangibles are playing with energy and maintaining a defensive presence and force that maybe wasn't there for a lot of the Utah game, but was pretty good against Phoenix and Sacramento. So just trying to gain some consistency with our defensive presence the last few games."

Golden State (50-29) will accomplish that goal with one more win, as either the third or fourth seed, with the Dallas Mavericks (49-30) breathing down their necks and the Denver Nuggets (47-32) still mathematically in contention for one of the top four spots.

If the Warriors were to claim homecourt advantage, it would certainly benefit injured superstar Steph Curry, who would not have to travel while potentially working his way back to the court in time for a first-round matchup.
