Former Warriors assistant coach Alvin Gentry was in Chase Center on Saturday night for Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals, and incredibly, he got to witness an action he introduced to Steve Kerr's playbook.
During the Warriors' 142-112 win over the Grizzlies, Steph Curry and Jordan Poole were seen executing a wild play where they locked arms under the basket, and almost like swing dancers, spun each other around before releasing towards each corner of the court.
As unique as that play looked, it has been something the Warriors have used ever since Kerr was introduced as coach in 2014.

Kerr was asked about that sequence Sunday following Warriors practice.
"We don't have a name for that, but we used to run it a lot with Steph and Klay [Thompson] the first couple of years," Kerr told reporters. "I think Alvin Gentry brought that action to us and so we used it years ago. We thought it was something that might be effective in this series."
Curry led the way with 30 points in the Game 3 win, but Poole feasted off the bench, scoring 27 points in 31 minutes to help the Warriors take a two-games-to-one lead in the second-round NBA playoff series.
"You're just trying to create some pace and force and a little deception," Kerr said. "It's just a quirky thing that those guys have done for [a while]. We didn't do much of it this year but in our early years, they did quite a bit of that."

Gentry was an assistant for Kerr only during the 2014-15 season, but the longtime coach clearly left his mark on the franchise.
