Kerr reveals dream scenario to trap Warriors' Twitter trolls

The Warriors are one of the most popular teams in the NBA. Their massive popularity is not just in the United States, but also in the entire world. While much of the attention is admiration, it also makes sense that they are a group that faces constant criticism as well.

Much of the criticism is respectful, light-hearted conversation between fans of the team and NBA. Unfortunately, especially in today's social media landscape, there are users who fire away criticism that can be irrational, insulting, inflammatory, and frequently threatening. It is a common occurrence for NBA players and personnel to be targets of aggressive "Twitter trolls" and those looking to cause disturbances.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who publicly made it known that he removed himself from social media due to the toxic nature of many of its users, did have a fun idea on how to trap some of these trolls.

"I have had this thought in my head for years, that it would be great to find, let's say three Twitter trolls," Kerr explained on that latest episode of the Dubs Talk podcast. "People that troll our team constantly. And just bring them to our facility. Maybe bribe them with gear, Warriors gear. Bring them in, and seat them in front of our team, and we read some of their tweets and just say 'okay guys, here they are, here are your trolls, take a good look. Does this bother you when they are sitting there reading them, or did you realize why the hell should you care what this person is saying.' "

Kerr laughed as he shared his dream scenario. But in reality, he is still concerned about how negatively impactful social media can be.

"The power of the phone, when you can't see the person, it is just written word, somehow it takes on so much extra meaning," Kerr said.

"This is a common theme in life right now, in way bigger subjects than just NBA performance. What a strange world we live in where everyone just sits back and insults each other and just judges each other from behind the safety of their keyboard."
