Kerr explains why Warriors are making coaching staff changes

The Warriors have not made any official announcements as it pertains to the coaching staff for the 2021-22 season.

But when it's all said and done, there will be several new faces in the mix.

So why make the changes?

“I suppose it’s probably not that different from a lot of work environments. If you bring the exact same group of people back to work every year after year, it’s harder to grow [and] it’s harder to change," Steve Kerr said Thursday on 95.7 The Game's "Damon, Ratto & Kolsky" show. "We’ve obviously been very successful here and have had some great years.

"But I think you always have to be looking to get better and to push forward and look at trends around the league and think about your own practices and what can you do better. That’s what this has been all about."

Kenny Atkinson -- the former head coach of the Brooklyn Nets who was an assistant with the LA Clippers this season -- is replacing Jarron Collins on the front of the bench.

Additionally, Jama Mahlalela and Dejan Milojević are joining the organization in player development roles.

"The guys we brought in are full of ideas, full of things that maybe I haven't thought of," Kerr said. "Things that will maybe look different structurally within our staff but also strategically with our team. I think we need that.

"I think every organization has to do that. I just don’t think you can do the same thing over and over again and expect to grow. That’s what this is about and that’s what we’re trying to do -- create some change and maintain our culture.

"We don’t want to change who we are but we want to think about our tactics and think about how we can get better.”
