Kerr confident in Warriors' ability to bounce back vs. Kings

Steve Kerr has been in almost every imaginable playoff scenario throughout his playing and coaching career.

As such, when reporters asked how he felt after the Warriors' 126-123 Game 1 loss to the Sacramento Kings on Saturday at Golden 1 Center, Kerr explained that he is confident in Golden State's ability to recover.

"We'll look at the tape and see if there's something we want to do differently," Kerr told reporters after the loss. "But all in all, to come out here, 10-point lead in the second half, did plenty of good things, had a chance to win at the end, I think we're in a pretty good place.

"We just couldn't complete the game tonight, but it's a seven-game series so we'll bounce back."

With the game being a back-and-fourth affair throughout, Golden State had a chance to send the game into overtime with 2.9 seconds remaining in regulation after Malik Monk hit two free throws to give Sacramento a three-point lead.

After a timeout, the Warriors called a play for Steph Curry and though he was able to get open, he missed the game-tying 3-pointer. Overall, Curry and Klay Thompson combined to score 51 while De'Aaron Fox had 38 and Monk had 32 off the bench.

That said, Kerr and the Warriors have played in so many playoff games and have seen so many matchups that losing the first game of a seven-game series shouldn't be too concerning to the four-time NBA champions and current title holders.

Golden State has been down by larger margins in a series before, most notably when the Warriors were down 3-1 to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2016 NBA Playoffs.

Though that particular series was seven years ago and against a different set of players, the team can take the knowledge they have amassed and potentially find ways to beat their Northern California rivals.

While the Game 1 loss is concerning to some Warriors fans, others have to be optimistic about how well Golden State played, especially as it integrates Andrew Wiggins back into the fold.

And Kerr always will be confident in his team, especially after everything they have gone through over the years.
