Kerr believes Warriors pick Wiseman ‘bursting with potential'

The Warriors finally made it official and selected Memphis big man James Wiseman with the No. 2 overall pick in Wednesday's NBA draft.

Head coach Steve Kerr expressed his excitement for the selection, and believes Wiseman is "bursting with potential."

"We had a chance to watch him work out and have dinner with him a couple weeks ago," Kerr said. "He was so impressive, he's just bursting with potential. So, we're excited to get him, a lot of work ahead, but he's excited to be coming here, and we're excited to have him, and should be a great partnership."

Wiseman gives the Warriors a center presence that the team hasn't had in years.

Kerr and the Warriors likely are eager to get into training camp after such an extended layoff because of the coronavirus suspension of the 2019-20 season.
