With a healthy Steph Curry, the Warriors will always be in the NBA championship picture, but at 34 years old, Golden State needed to begin having an heir: Enter Andrew Wiggins.
Wiggins always had the potential to be an elite player, being drafted No. 1 overall in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers and then traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, the former Kansas product simply was playing on bad teams.

After his trade to the Bay Area in 2020, the 27-year-old has not only fit with the Warriors but has converted himself into a two-way player and recently signed a four-year, $109 million contract extension.
Having Curry and Wiggins under contract for the foreseeable future, Andre Iguodala believes that the Warriors are set up to maximize the rest of Curry's career and when he retires.
"I thought it was really good for Wiggs to sign [contract extension], especially all the noise that's come his way throughout his career and he's consistently put up good numbers and there was a knock that he was doing on a bad team," Iguodala told reporters on Thursday. "He did it on a good team, so I was really happy for that and just him as a two-way guy next to Steph, I think they're a very, very great match.
"The years are matched up now, right? In terms of remainder years. Think it's really, really good for both of those guys and, you know, it looks like we're still going to this organization is still going to continue to compete at a super high level for the next four years."
Wiggins isn't the player the Warriors locked up to a new contract. Jordan Poole is also remaining in the Bay Area and, with Wiggins, is the heir to Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson once their time in the Bay Area comes to an end.
