Iguodala out for Game 2 vs. Nuggets with neck spasms

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Warriors will be down a key piece Monday night in Game 2 of their first-round playoff matchup against the Denver Nuggets. Andre Iguodala has been ruled out with bilateral neck spasms.

"It's a bummer" Steve Kerr said to reporters when Iguodala joined the injury list as doubtful.

Kerr found out about Iguodala's neck issue a little over two hours before tipoff, just as he was leaving for his drive in to Chase Center.

Iguodala, 38, played 13 minutes and 25 seconds off the bench in the Warriors' Game 1 win. He didn't score any points, but the veteran had four assists and two rebounds as he was a plus-11 in plus-minus.

The Warriors sent out 10 payers to the floor in the first quarter of Saturday night's win, which is more than most teams will trot out in the playoffs. Kerr said he could lean heavier on a nine-man rotation or turn to a different player off the bench with Iguodala unable to go.

Rookie Jonathan Kuminga didn't play until late in the fourth quarter in Game 1, but perhaps that could change with Iguodala out. Kuminga played all four games against the Nuggets this season, averaging 13.8 points over 22.1 minutes per game.

Kerr's historic Warriors coaching achievement silences critics

Iguodala, the 2015 Finals MVP, was held to just 31 games this season as he dealt with a handful of injuries and the Warriors were cautious with his minutes, deciding to not play him in both games of a back-to-back. He averaged 4.0 points, 3.7 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game in the regular season, though his impact always goes beyond the box score.
