Joel Embiid is no longer a free agent in the shoe/apparel game.
The 76ers' big man signed a deal with Under Armour, which means he and Steph Curry are now teammates in a sense.

And yes, Curry played a role during the recruitment process that began in earnest in late August.
As ESPN's Nick DePaula writes:
Within the next week, Under Armour's current face of the company, Stephen Curry, sent Embiid a welcoming text message, encouraging him to join the brand and help grow the company together. In many ways, the brand feels the 76ers star serves as a great complement to the Warriors' three-time champion, as the two represent opposite coasts and basketball positions, and have different footwear preferences.
"There's a stereotype about big men that can't sell shoes," Embiid told ESPN. "When I look at myself, I'm not a big man -- I'm a guard. I can do everything on the basketball court. You can name it -- pass, post up, shoot the ball, bring the ball up, being a playmaker -- so I'm excited to break that stereotype."
And we are all excited to see how Curry and Embiid join forces to do some creative stuff.
In case you are curious -- the Warriors host the 76ers on Jan. 31 and play in Philly on March 2.
