NBA Twitter grades Warriors’ 2022-23 season after title defense ends

Trade speculation. End of a dynasty. Front office questions.

The Warriors' offseason has begun.

Now that Golden State's 2022-23 NBA season officially is over after a Western Conference semifinals loss to LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, the Internet basketball experts of the world have reflected and weighed in on the campaign.

Using academic grading, NBC Sports Bay Area asked NBA Twitter to grade the Warriors' up-and-down, drama and injury-filled season.

Honestly, it was a C. They played well at home, but lacked continuity on the road. The defense wasn’t there this year. We had a horrible off season in signings. I like donte, but the others weren’t good. Trade deadline was good to get go2 back, but we still lacked.

C-plus over all.
C-minus for the regular season (F on the road, A-minus at home),
B for the playoffs (while their record was 6-7, making it 6 games into the 2nd round, against the best teams in the NBA, merits a B in my book)

C- some played up to expectations, some regressed, some tried too hard, and some disappointed. The only consistent thing about this group was their inconsistency. Don’t know what caused the dichotomy on this team, but if they don’t fix it they’ll get the same results next year.

While it appears that most fans went with a variation of a "C" grade (C+, C or C-), others provided a more harsh assessment.

Honest grade : D. Ls to Indiana Orlando Detroit really put the team in the mud and trading wiseman to still lose in second round was questionable

Some even said the Warriors exceeded expectations, given all the drama that occurred before and over the course of the season.

B+. For all the issues they had--near-complete rebuild from last season which required them to develop chemistry for all the new players, usual injuries, Wiggins out for months, Green-Poole kerfuffle at the beginning, etc.,--they should've lost to the Kings but didn't. B+.

I’m a big Fan ride or die. It obviously wasn’t the best. Way to many injuries and off court drama .I hoped our championship DNA would boost us but that only worked but so much. We definitely at a (Low B) we need sizes hopefully we get it and we also need to be attacking the rim.

All things considered it was a solid season. I give the Warriors a B+ … small improvements equate to another Championship run.

To the Warriors' standards, this season clearly didn't go as they hoped. But a new season is just a few months away.
