How Draymond spent time away from Warriors after JP altercation

To say it has been an eventful week for Draymond Green would be an understatement.

Speaking with reporters Thursday for the first time since he announced he would be taking time away from the team, Green explained how he felt and what he did over the past few days.

"It was great, I spent a lot of time with my kids," Green said. "Made eggs with my son -- I cook really good eggs, so I taught him how to cook some eggs, which was great."

Along with spending time with his children, the 32-year-old also shared that he did some introspection though declined to dive deeper into what he meant.

"Spent a lot of time with my kids but also a lot of time dealing with this stuff too," Green added. "So it's been some long days but it was good."

Furthermore, when pressed on what he learned during his time away from the Warriors, Green said that he is always striving to be a better person.

"As I said before, the moment you stop working on yourself, you get worse. I think I learned new things about myself every day. That's always the goal," Green concluded.

After punching Jordan Poole in the face during practice last week, Golden State's coaching staff and front office elected to fine Green an undisclosed amount rather than suspend him as Poole and other Warriors teammates reportedly felt a suspension was "unnecessary."

It was also reported that the Warriors fined Green instead of suspending him as a way to keep him available for Golden State's ring ceremony before their 2022-23 NBA season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers at Chase Center on Oct. 18.

Since Green and Poole's altercation, the former has taken the time to express himself and is seemingly doing all the right things to get back into the Warriors' good graces

Players and coaches can say all they want about the situation, but it remains to be seen how Green's actions and week off will affect the team once the regular season formally begins.
