Kevin Durant in. Harrison Barnes out.

The Warriors will have a new starting small forward next season.

On Wednesday in Las Vegas, Barnes was asked about being cast off and if he felt his contributions were overlooked.

"I guess I died," the 24-year old told Marcus Thompson of the Bay Area News Group.

Barnes is not surprised he is no longer a member of the Warriors.

"Dwight (Howard) trade rumors. Kevin Love trade rumors. Kevin Durant ... oh, that one happened," he explained. "There's been a few instances where you consider what might happen.

"I was just more so glad to be there as long as I was."

The Warriors selected Barnes with the seventh overall pick in the 2012 draft. He started 81 games as a rookie and shot 44 percent from the field and 36 percent from deep.

In the playoffs he averaged 16.1 points and 6.4 rebounds over 12 games.

In Year 2, Barnes started just 24 games (Andre Iguodala came on board) and his shooting percentages dipped to 40 percent overall and below 35 percent from 3-point territory.

Barnes started all 82 games in 2014-15 and shot over 40 percent from distance.

Last year, he averaged a career-best 11.7 points per game, and made over 38 percent of his 3-point attempts.

But in the playoffs, Barnes averaged just 9.0 points per contest, and shot under 39 percent from the field. Over the final three games of the NBA Finals, Barnes made 5-of-32 shots.

Shortly after free agency officially opened, he signed a 4-year, $94.4 million max contract with Dallas and is going to have an opportunity to be a focal point within the Mavericks' offense.

But first, he's after a gold medal.

"It's been a chaotic summer," Barnes told BANG. "I haven't really had time to process too much. We lost in the Finals. I'm going to Dallas. I'm here on the Olympic team. Even being here hasn't sunk in yet.

"It's been a whirlwind. I'm just trying to take it all in."
