Stephen Curry breaks Ray Allen's career three-point record
With his second 3-pointer of the Warriors' game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, Curry surpassed Ray Allen's record for career 3-pointers with his 2,974th make.
Curry tied the record with his first 3-pointer of the game in the first quarter.
While Allen accumulated his 3-point total in 1,300 NBA games, Curry needed just 789 games to claim the record. Allen's record stood for nearly 11 years after he broke Reggie Miller's mark of 2,560 on Feb. 10, 2011.
Here are Stephen Curry’s contract details with the Warriors
In August, Curry agreed to a four-year contract extension with the Warriors worth $215 million, making him the first player in history to sign two career $200 million-plus deals according to his agent Jeff Austin of Octagon Basketball.
Curry is under contract with the Warriors through the 2025-26 season, when he will turn 38 years old.
The extension with the Warriors is set to begin in the 2022-23 season.
The three-time NBA champion in 2021-22 will earn about $45.8 million in the final year of his current deal.
Curry’s career earnings so far are well over $200M, according to Sportrac.

Curry signed with Under Armour in 2013. At the time, Curry was considering other brands, but he credits his oldest daughter Riley for the decision to ultimately choose Under Armour. The two-time NBA MVP has gone on to become the face of Under Armour Basketball, continues to launch new signature shoes and launched the Curry Brand within Under Armour last year.
A big emphasis for Curry in his new Under Armour brand is giving back. Curry announced in August 2019 that he would financially support Howard University's golf teams for the next six seasons. The two-time NBA MVP is an avid golfer, and the Curry Brand will extend out to more than just basketball.
Stephen Curry’s prolific college career
Curry played college basketball at Davidson College from 2006 to 2009.
He was not getting recruited by any notable Division 1 universities during high school.
That all changed when Bob McKillop, the head coach at Davidson, watched Curry play in high school one day in Las Vegas. "Never once did he stop playing," McKillop said. "Never once did he show the frustration, never once did he get impacted by the demons of failure. And I said to myself, 'This is a young man who transcends time. He lives in the moment.'”
Curry committed to Davidson and became a college basketball phenomenon. Three-pointers are Curry’s signature weapon in the NBA and it was no different in college when he set the NCAA’s single-season record for 3-pointers with 162.
When Curry was a sophomore, he led Davidson to wins over Gonzaga, Georgetown and Wisconsin in the 2008 NCAA Tournament. Curry's sophomore season ended nine days later, three points shy of upsetting eventual champion Kansas and advancing to the Final Four. But by then, his name was firmly in the national consciousness. As a result, the spotlight on Curry from a national perspective grew immensely.

Curry is the oldest of three siblings. His younger siblings are Seth and Sydel. Curry's parents are Dell and Sonya. Dell played in the NBA for 15 years and is currently a broadcaster for the Charlotte Hornets.
Curry is married to Ayesha Curry. They have three children together: daughters Riley and Ryan as well as a son, Canon.
Former Warriors General Manager Larry Riley recalled a story about Curry’s decision to name his eldest daughter. Riley was a guest on 95.7 The Game's "Bonta, Steiny & Guru" show in 2020, and was asked if it's true that Steph named his daughter "Riley" after him.
"Steph came into my office one day, and he sat down in front of me and he said, 'Hey coach, we're getting ready to have a child and it's a girl. We're looking at names. What would you think if we named our baby girl Riley?' I was blown away," Riley said. "I was just absolutely blown away."
From Riley taking over the postgame interview during the 2015 Western Conference Finals, to Riley and Ryan singing out lyrics from the internationally known musical “Hamilton,” to Canon’s impression of former Warriors star Baron Davis, the Curry children have become a well of heartwarming moments.
Riley even played an important part in her parents’ renewing their wedding vows. Riley was the officiant of the intimate ceremony held on the grass in their own backyard.
