Gameday: Warriors try to continue home dominance vs Kings

Share

OAKLAND -– The Warriors will be out to continue their amazing home domination of visiting teams Monday night when the Sacramento Kings enter Oracle Arena.

The Warriors (28-1) have won 32 consecutive games at home, including the first 14 home games this season. Their last home loss came exactly one year and one day ago to Chicago, in overtime.

The Kings (12-18) started the season with seven losses in eight games but have recovered to go 11-11 since. The strife between coach George Karl and some of the players seems to have subsided during that stretch.

This game does present several intriguing matchups, including the battle of two point guards with contrasting styles. Warriors leader Steph Curry is considered the game’s best shooter, while Rajon Rondo of the Kings is considered the game’s best distributor.

MATCHUP TO WATCH

Andrew Bogut/Festus Ezeli vs DeMarcus Cousins -- The Warriors haven’t seen Big Cuz this season, but they know he’s a load in the paint. He may be the most physically complete offensive center in the NBA. Bogut knows him, having battled him numerous times over the years. Ezeli knows him a bit, too. This is one of those nights when having two quality centers could tip the balance of power in the game.

LAST 10

Warriors: 9-1. Kings: 5-5.

INJURY REPORT

Warriors: F Harrison Barnes (right ankle sprain) is listed as doubtful. G Leandro Barbosa (left shoulder sprain) and F Kevon Looney (right hip surgery rehab) are listed as out.

Kings: C Kosta Koufos (gastroenteritis) is listed as doubtful. C Willie Cauley-Stein (right index finger dislocation) and C/F Eric Moreland (left foot fracture) are listed as out.

SERIES HISTORY

The Warriors won the first two meetings, one on each home court, and have won the last 10 clashes -– the longest win streak over the Kings since the Warriors came to the Bay Area in 1962. The Warriors swept the four-game series in each of the last two seasons.

QUOTABLE

“They have a lot of talent. They’ve been playing better. Rondo’s playing better and, obviously, Cousins is one of the best big men in the league. They’re capable of beating anybody on any given night, the way they’re playing. They’re not a team you just look at and say, ‘Oh, it’s an easy win.’" –- Warriors PG Shaun Livingston on the Monday night matchup
