OAKLAND – When the Warriors step on the court Wednesday night, they will have a simple goal: to leave Oracle Arena with a nice, round number dancing in their heads.
Yes, 50 would be fine and a victory over the New York Knicks would push the Warriors’ home win streak to that number, an ongoing record, dating back to January of last year. They are 31-0 at home this season.

The Warriors (60-6) practically have taken ownership of the Knicks in recent meetings, winning by 21 on Jan. 31 at Madison Square Garden and sweeping two games last season by an average of 22.5 points.

New York (28-40) is in transition. Coach Derek Fisher was fired last month and replaced by Kurt Rambis in an interim capacity. Veteran star Carmelo Anthony is a mainstay, even with his scoring declining four successive seasons, but the vast potential of 7-foot-3 rookie Kristaps Porzingis has quickened the pulse of a still-rabid fan base.
A Warriors victory would give the Knicks four consecutive seasons without a winning record.

MATCHUP TO WATCH
Draymond Green/Harrison Barnes vs. Carmelo Anthony: The Warriors at home typically keep Melo under wraps, limiting him to 28.6-percent shooting over the last three games in Oakland. Andre Iguodala, part of that defensive rotation, won’t be available this time, so the bulk of the work will go to Green and Barnes. The upside for both is that they will have scoring opportunities.

QUOTABLE
“I’m pretty sure he didn’t mean to actually claw me in that situation. It’s kind of a normal defensive position, where you get in the face and block the vision. He must have underestimated his reach.” – Steph Curry, on taking a deep scratch on the forehead from the fingernail of Anthony, playing hyper-aggressive defense on Jan. 31
