For Fitzgerald's son, watching Curry like opening presents

Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald had a practice round at Pebble Beach on Wednesday morning and then flew to Phoenix for the Warriors-Suns game on Wednesday night.

He was back at Pebble Beach for an early Thursday morning tee time.

Fitzgerald explained the back-and-forth to KNBR 680.

"I made a promise before I committed to coming here (Pebble Beach), to my son, to take him. He's a big Steph Curry fan, so I couldn't pull the rope from under him," Fitzgerald said. "It's like when your kids open up the Christmas gifts, and you see just pure joy -- that's what it was last night so it was well worth it."

Curry certainly put on a show for Fitzgerald and his eight-year old son, Devin.

The MVP racked up 26 points, nine assists, and nine rebounds. The only downside was that the Warriors were in control so Curry didn't play in the fourth quarter.

Larry, Devin and Fitzgerald's two-year old son, Apollo, met with Curry after the game and took a picture.

Apollo apparently wasn't impressed by Curry's performance.

"He didn't want Steph to hold him," Fitzgerald revealed. "He was squirming around and I was like, 'You don't understand how big of a moment this is for you, man.'"

Although Fitzgerald is a Phoenix Suns fan, he can't help but be impressed by Curry and the Warriors -- on and off the court.

"His humility, the guy is very approachable, down to Earth, classy guy, family first and that's throughout the course of that team," Fitzgerald said. "... These guys are all just normal guys and they play together and they are genuinely happy for each other when they have success."
