Ever wonder where Steph Curry, Klay Thompson got ‘Splash Brothers' nickname?

Editor's note: Every Tuesday and Thursday during this sports hiatus, we'll answer questions that Bay Area sports fans long have debated in "Ever Wonder?"  This Tuesday: How did the "Splash Brothers" get created?

It's an iconic nickname known not only in the Bay Area, but all around the world. Warriors stars Steph Curry and Klay Thompson are icons, and their "Splash Brothers" nickname fits them perfectly.

Curry and Thompson are regarded as the greatest shooting backcourt in NBA history. They helped change the way basketball is played with their ability to drain 3-pointers from anywhere on the court. Their nickname, however, came to fruition before their days of hoisting championship trophies.

And it's all thanks to our very own Brian Witt.

Witt, who now is a writer for NBC Sports Bay Area, conjured the idea when he was working with the Warriors years ago and the Dubs were looking to end their All-Star Game drought.

To find out how Witt coined the famous nickname for the duo, watch the video at the top of the article.
