During Kerr's Coach of the Year press conference on Tuesday, Warriors GM Bob Myers shared some insight with the world.
"I don't think everybody quite knows what you've (Kerr) had to go through this year," Myers explained. "You deserve this award. You don't deserve it for winning 73 games. You deserve it for coming to work every day with how you've had to feel.
"And no one quite understands that, except for the people that you go to work with every day. I just admire your courage. I admire you as a person."

The Warriors introduced Kerr as their new head coach on May 20, 2014.
During that press conference, Kerr made a strong declaration.
"The most important thing that I've learned in sports is: Owner-GM-coach -- the relationship between those three is critical," Kerr told the media.
Clearly, things are going just fine in that department.
"When we hired you, a lot of people, and they're right, said you guys found a great coach," Myers added on Tuesday. "And we did. But I found a great friend. I love going to work with you every day. I hope you are here as long as you want to be here. It's really a privilege.
"You're a special person, you've had success your whole life, you're continuing to have success and you are what you just said about the players -- you're talented and you have character.
"And people like that are hard to find. So thanks for being our coach, and thanks for being a friend."
