Dwight Howard: Winning with Wizards, not Warriors, would have greater impact

Dwight Howard just can't stop talking about the Warriors.

The new Wizards big man reportedly had interest in joining the defending back-to-back champs this offseason, but he opted to sign with Washington despite getting a call from the Warriors.

Earlier this week, Howard shed more light on why he decided against signing with the Warriors.

"I just think Golden State, they've won a couple championships in the past couple of years," Howard said via NBC Sports Washington. "So, me going there and winning it's like 'well, you went to a team that's already won.' In D.C., I think the last time the Wizards won they were the Bullets if I'm not mistaken. So, I think that impact would be bigger for the city."

The Wizards finished the 2017-18 season with a 43-39 record, good for eighth in the Eastern Conference. The path to the NBA Finals doesn't go through LeBron and the Cavs anymore (sorry, Tristan), but we just don't see the Wizards taking down the Celtics, 76ers or Raptors in the East.

Good luck getting that ring, Dwight. Hope you enjoy watching a third straight Warriors parade.
