James Wiseman by all accounts genuinely wants to achieve greatness.
The No. 2 overall pick in last month's NBA draft has the work ethic, passion and dedication necessary to be the best version of himself.
If you're looking for an example that proves this to be the case, Warriors general manager Bob Myers told a great story this week on SiriusXM NBA Radio.

"I called him [Wiseman] last week, and I said, 'What are you doing?' He said, 'I'm watching Tim Duncan tape.' And I'm thinking yeah right (laughter). I said, 'What year?' He said, '1999.'
"I said, 'What are you watching?' He said, 'I just want to see how he learned the game, and try to mimic some of the stuff he did.' And then I kind of said, 'Well, what are you doing when you're not watching tape?'
"He goes, 'Well, I got a ball from the facility. I just dribble around.' It wasn't a line. It wasn't BS. What makes a player in this league -- yes, talent for sure -- [but] if you're elite [with] size and athleticism, and you work hard ... just hard work will get you somewhere.
"If you get a guy that loves to play and loves to work, then you got something pretty good."

Duncan, the No. 1 overall pick in the 1997 draft who turned into one of greatest players in NBA history, averaged 21.7 points, 11.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.5 blocks and 0.9 steals during the 1998-99 lockout-shortened season when the San Antonio Spurs won the NBA title.
Duncan, of course, was teammates in San Antonio with Hall of Famer David Robinson, who Wiseman has drawn comparisons to over the last several months.

"I know all of our fans are probably hoping he [Wiseman] is gonna be David Robinson when he steps out on the floor," Steve Kerr told the media Wednesday. "But picture David Robinson as a sophomore at Navy.
"That's the guy you're comparing him to, not the All-Star with the Spurs."
Wiseman missed all three of the Warriors' preseason games, and his status for the regular season opener Tuesday vs. the Brooklyn Nets remains up in the air.
