Draymond says no Booker in NBA All-Star game is ‘foolery'

The NBA officially announced the full 2021 All-Star rosters Tuesday afternoon, and like always, plenty of controversy immediately transpired.

While it was already known Steph Curry nabbed his seventh NBA All-Star selection as a starter, the reserves list offered up some surprising snubs.

Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker being left off the roster perhaps was the most eye-raising omission. It definitely was to Draymond Green.

While it's unclear what kind of "foolery" Green had in mind, Booker not being an All-Star certainly is questionable. In 26 games for the Suns this season, the 24-year-old is averaging 24.7 points per game on 50.1 percent shooting from the field, and quickly is making a name for himself as one of the biggest offensive threats in the Western Conference.

With names like Donovan Mitchell, Damian Lillard and Rudy Gobert in the Western Conference player pool, it was going to be hard to make sure every deserving player received a selection. However, Green made it clear there should have been no hesitation about Booker's nod.

In lieu of the traditional Eastern Conference-Western Conference showdown like most years, this year all players again will be placed into a pool and drafted to either LeBron James' team or Kevin Durant's. James and Durant were their respective conference leaders in votes gained, therefore making them team captains.

There is plenty of time for players to withdraw from the game. Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis likely will, as big man is injured. Theoretically, this means Booker could slot in as a replacement. It would mark the second time he has done so. Booker landed his first NBA All-Star berth in that fashion in the 2019-2020 season.

Obviously, Green believes that should be the case, and it's safe to say many NBA fans, and probably Booker, agree.
