Luke Walton accomplished his stated mission in regards to Draymond Green.

The power forward with the achy legs will miss a game for the first time this season Wednesday night when the Warriors face the Nuggets at Pepsi Center in Denver.

Prior to the team’s flight to Denver on Tuesday, Walton indicated a desire to sit Green out in Denver Wednesday night and perhaps against the Lakers on Thursday. The interim coach also knew he could get some opposition from his fourth-year power forward, who never wants to miss a game.

“I look forward to having that talk with him,” Walton said wryly.

Green, coping with soreness and inflammation in both legs, evidently understood the reasons.

Reserve power forward James Michael McAdoo, still mending from a sprained to on his left foot, also will sit out against the Nuggets.
