Draymond out for Warriors-Bulls game; won't play vs. Pistons

The Warriors were hoping Draymond Green would make his season debut Sunday night against the Chicago Bulls, but that won't be the case.

And he won't play in the Warriors' game on Tuesday against the Detroit Pistons, either.

The team announced through the latest NBA injury report that Green has been ruled out of Sunday's game as he continues to recover from a mild muscle strain in his right foot, and coach Steve Kerr told the media that before the Bulls game that the All-Star forward won't play in Detroit due to conditioning issues.

According to Kerr, Green got through a scrimmage Saturday pretty well, but he won't play until the team returns home later in the week.

The Warriors desperately need Green to return. Through the first two games of the season, the Warriors have lost by an average of 32.5 points and have been unable to get in sync on the defensive end of the floor.

Sunday's game against the Bulls is expected to serve as a get-right game for Steve Kerr's team. The Bulls also are 0-2, but while the Warriors were blown out by two NBA title contenders in the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks, the Bulls were dismantled by the Atlanta Hawks and Indiana Pacers.

Green was brutally honest when asked about the Warriors' early-season struggles.

"You know, we've lost by an average of 32.5 points or something like that," Green said. "That's unacceptable. You know we're young -- we got all the excuses, right? We're young, two weeks of camp, James being out and myself being out, Klay being out. We got all the excuses in the world but the reality is no one gives a f--k. We have to do what we got to do to get better as a team. Learn where guys like the ball, get guys to the proper spots, get the right spacing.

"Because when you don't have the right spacing what happens is you get guys taking shots that they shouldn't necessarily be taking. I'm not going to sit here and make any excuses. We got out a--es kicked twice and we need to get better."

The Warriors will have to get in the win column without the star forward who they hope can return to action soon.
