Many people might not remember that the Warriors dealt with a meningitis scare back in March 2018.
The franchise was forced to take swift action, and several precautionary measures were necessary.
"That was something that -- a friend of mine who’s a doctor was like, ‘Yo, do you know how serious that was?’ And I was like, ‘Nah,' " former Golden State big man David West recently told The Athletic's Sam Amick on the "Tampering" podcast. "He’s like, ‘Bro, like that was a serious, serious, serious, serious thing that y’all were potentially exposed to. Thankfully nothing came of it, but that was a serious situation.

"When he gave me that perspective, I’m like, ‘Well, damn man.' "
You do most likely recall that during the Warriors' 2018 championship celebration after sweeping the Cleveland Cavaliers, West created headlines with his comments in the champagne-soaked locker room.
“We dealt with some things internally," he said, "When you guys find out about that, y’all are going to trip. I’m serious. Y’all are going to trip. It’s a testament to the type of people these guys are and how tied together we were as a group and how committed we were to winning.”

So what is West's reaction to the notion that some Dubs fans don't believe meningitis was the reason for his cryptic message.
“That’s funny, because again, to me that’s worse than anything else," the two-time NBA champion said. "We had to take freaking (vaccination) shots from the CDC that night. Like, I thought they were bringing us in to tell us one of our teammates had died or something, because you know, just things didn’t feel right.

"And then it’s like, ‘Ok, you guys have got to take these freaking meningitis shots.’ ‘When?’ ‘Right now.' There’s no ‘yes’ or ‘no.’ It’s, ‘You’ve got to take it.’ The thing that was crazy was that we couldn’t put the band-aids on, because if we all had little (band-aids), you know what I mean, people would be like, ‘What the hell did you guys just go through?’
"That was a scare where we started thinking about our families and our kids. I’m like, ‘Man, this could be crazy if one of us has this.’ But thankfully, we got out of it clean.”
