Curry's MRI did not reveal anything of concern

OAKLAND – The Warriors and their fans can breathe easy, at least for now, as the latest news regarding Stephen Curry’s wounded right ankle is not as bad as feared.

The reigning MVP on Tuesday underwent an MRI test, after which the Warriors announced the exam “did not reveal anything of concern.” Curry is listed as questionable for Game 3 on Thursday, when the first-round series against the Rockets resumes in Houston.

Curry in the second quarter of Game 1 on Saturday sustained what the Warriors have described as a “tweak” of his ankle. The point guard, who led the NBA in scoring, attempted to return after halftime but lasted only three minutes before being subbed out.

Curry’s desire to play in Game 2 on Monday night prompted a pregame warmup session that lasted less than eight minutes before he reluctantly called it quits.

All of which leads to the heightened anxiety among Warriors fans, if not the team. Curry has undergone two surgeries on his right ankle, the last of which came in April 2012. He has since incurred no serious setbacks.

“Fortunately we don't play until Thursday and he's got some time to get some treatment,” coach Steve Kerr said late Monday night.

Veteran point guard Shaun Livingston, who started Game 2, is expected to start Game 3 if Curry is unable to play.
