OAKLAND – Precisely one week after being diagnosed with a sprained right knee, for which he was projected to miss at least two weeks, Warriors star Stephen Curry was in the gym to do some light shooting.
But not until his teammates had left the facility, as he is not ready to practice.
Curry won’t play in Game 2 against the Trail Blazers Tuesday night. He is progressing well enough that it’s conceivable he could play in Game 3 on Saturday.

“I’m sure Steph will be out here shooting before long,” coach Steve Kerr said Monday, after the team went through video study and a light workout.
“He’ll definitely shoot today.”
Curry last Saturday did some light shooting, his first basketball activity since sustaining the medial collateral ligament (MCL) on April 24 against the Rockets in Houston.
Curry is not expected to do much, if anything, during shootaround Tuesday prior to Game 2 at Oracle Arena. The Warriors are optimistic that, with an additional three days of treatment, he’ll be able to join his teammates Thursday for their next scrimmage.

“We’ll probably have Wednesday off and then Thursday we’ll definitely get up and down,” Kerr said. “Hopefully, he’ll be able to take part. But we don’t know yet.”
Kerr reiterated that series circumstances – the Warriors own a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series – have no bearing on when Curry returns.
“We’re not going to bring him back until he’s ready to come back,” Kerr said. “So he’s not going to reinjure himself.”
