Warriors coach Steve Kerr and general manager Bob Myers told reporters Tuesday that the Draymond Green-Kevin Durant confrontation had nothing to do with Durant's impending free agency.
"I don't think anybody in our locker room, anyone on our coaching staff thinks twice about Kevin's free agency," Kerr said, adding that the Warriors are focused on their pursuit of another NBA championship.
The Athletic's Shams Charania reported Green mentioned Durant's free agency during their confrontation. Neither Kerr nor Myers clarified what, exactly, Green did to cross the line, but both said the suspension was warranted. Yahoo's Chris Haynes reported Tuesday that the team believed Green "cut too deep."

SIGN UP HERE Myers said he and Kerr were the primary decision-makers on Green's suspension, and Kerr said they began discussing the possibility after the Warriors' overtime loss to the Los Angeles Clippers Monday night. Durant and Green argued after Green did not pass to Durant on the Warriors' last possession of overtime.

Kerr and Myers, who spoke separately, did not seem worried about any tension spilling over when Green returns from his suspension. Myers told reporters that Green and Durant took the news of the suspension professionally.
"It's life. You just move forward through adversity," Myers said. "This is adversity, but we've had adversity before, and we'll have it again. Every team does and we do. People ... think we're a perfect place, we're not. We do our best, just like everybody else.

"I think it's what you do after these things occur that separates the good organizations, and there are a lot of them out there. That's what we're trying to be. And so, how you handle things after they happen is the most important thing."

Kerr said he expects Green to continue to play the same way moving forward.
"Draymond is always going to be who he is," Kerr said. "He's a powerful force. ... He's a huge reason why we've had so much success here, and Draymond is going to continue playing the way he plays. I don't see him operating any other way."
