Bob Myers reveals the worst part about being a GM: ‘I don't know what to do'

Warriors GM Bob Myers underwent hip surgery on the morning of the Warriors' Game 5 matchup vs the Spurs on Tuesday, April 24.

Since it's only been nine days, the two-time Executive of the Year will not be flying to New Orleans for Games 3 and 4.

"I can't. There's really two reasons -- it's hard to get around with the crutches and then you risk blood-clotting if you travel too fast after surgery," Myers explained on 95.7 The Game. "You know what's the worst thing for any GM? Here's the worst part of the job -- watching your team play on TV. I swear, it's the worst."

During the regular season, Myers does not travel to every road game, so watching on TV is necessary.

But he's never had to watch a playoff game on TV.

"I don't know what to do," Myers said. "If you got any advice -- I'm not a drug guy so I can't do that."

During all of his years as an executive -- including six as a board member with the Warriors -- Jerry West notoriously got too nervous to watch games.

Or, simply watching caused great agony and despair.

"I couldn't watch with him ... he's unbeleivable," Myers said of West. "He's such a perfectionist. And it all comes from his desire to win -- that's why he was such a great player, he's so competitive.

"But for me, that's not good for me to be around because it just ratchets up my own stuff. So I don't know, man. There's no solution to this one."

Greg Papa invited Myers to watch at the NBC Sports Bay Area studios, but Myers was non-committal...
