Baldwin Jr. stunningly ate first PB&J sandwich recently

If you were to guess what the favorite sandwich is of someone with the initials “PBJ,” what would it be?

A peanut butter and jelly sandwich, of course.

Stunningly, Warriors rookie forward Patrick Baldwin Jr., whose initials have spawned many terrible PB&J puns ever since Golden State selected him with the No. 28 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, never has eaten a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. That is until this week.

In speaking to reporters after the Warriors’ 112-107 win over the Utah Jazz on Tuesday night at Chase Center, Baldwin Jr., who drove up to join the Warriors last minute after preparing for a G League practice on Wednesday, was asked about his last-minute road trip and specifically what his go-to snack is while commuting.

“It’s now a PB&J sandwich,” Baldwin Jr. said. “I just had my first one the other day ... first one the other day. Ever.”

Yes, the 20-year-old Baldwin Jr. somehow went his entire life without eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. That begs the question, what did his mother pack in his school lunches?

Steph shines, silences physical Rockets defense in Warriors' win

Steph Curry hilariously corrects Charles Barkley's Jimmy Butler description

“Turkey sandwiches, cream cheese bagels, anything except a peanut butter and jelly sandwich,” Baldwin Jr. explained. “I definitely missed out.”

Better late than never, right?

Baldwin Jr. was asked what motivated him to try his first PB&J and hinted at a possible project he’s working on with the Warriors.

“I believe we’ll see in a few days what it was, but it was a fun project we worked on and I got to try my first one ... you’ll see it soon,” Baldwin Jr. added.

The marketing possibilities are endless, and after the rookie’s impressive performance in which he scored 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field and 3-of-5 from 3-point range in 12 minutes off the bench, Warriors fans are clamoring for more PBJ.

Both the player and the sandwich.
