2020 NBA mock draft: Anthony Edwards, Warriors appear to be ideal fit

Share

The Warriors will enter the 2020 NBA Draft with a high draft pick and a litany of options. President of basketball operations Bob Myers has said the Warriors will "consider" trading the top pick, and all options are on the table.

The 2020 draft class doesn't have a truly transcendent talent, but it is filled with players like Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball and James Wiseman who could provide some help to a Warriors team hoping to return to contention.

Trading the pick could help net the Warriors a veteran talent who could provide a bigger immediate lift than a rookie in a title chase. The Warriors have a number of options in front of them, but which rookie would be the best fit?

Here's who some of the experts have the Warriors selecting.

James Ham, NBC Sports California: SG Anthony Edwards
Edwards: "Edwards has incredible upside and could begin his career focused on being a disruptive force on defense and a fourth or fifth option in the offense. As he matures and trains with All-Star level players, there would be a hope that he could improve as a shooter and become more than just a super athlete. Edwards has good size and a mature body for his age. He could eat minutes early in his career at the two and three and give coach Steve Kerr some additional versatility to his lineup."

Kevin O'Connor, The Ringer: SG Anthony Edwards
Edwards: "Bruising scorer who can create space with his dribble and make tough shots from all over the court, but his decision-making leaves much to be desired."

Jonathan Givony and Mike Schmitz, ESPN: SG Anthony Edwards
Edwards: "Edwards would add instant offense to an already high-powered nucleus with his ability to get downhill and rise up from anywhere on the floor."

Krysten Peek, Yahoo! Sports: SG Anthony Edwards
Edwards: "Edwards’ most underrated trait is his passing in the open court and his shot release is so high it’s difficult to defend. He’s quick off the dribble and with his size and strength, Edwards could have a long career in the NBA."

Matt Norlander, CBS Sports: SG Anthony Edwards
Edwards: " For now, I'll ride with Edwards, who played on a bad team but put up solid numbers (50% 2-point shooting in addition to the averages above) and projects as a reliable scorer at the next level."
