Collison refutes report that he wants Kings to trade him

SACRAMENTO -- Darren Collison is one of the more reserved players you will meet, but he took exception to what he deemed misinformation by NBA writer Alex Kennedy on Wednesday morning.

“Alex Kennedy that's false information bro, I'm good…,” Collison tweeted in response to Kennedy's assertion that the Kings point guard wanted out of Sacramento.

Collison’s response garnered nearly 800 retweets and 1100 likes throughout the day as folks around the league chimed in. Following Wednesday's practice, Collison provided more information.

“There’s so many rumors out there and you don’t know what to believe - what’s true and what’s not,” Collison said. “And to be honest, I think if you’re a player, you can’t really control that stuff.”

The veteran point guard said that it’s his reputation that’s on the line in a situation like this. When pressed on whether he still wants to be in Sacramento, Collison left no question.

“Of course, I’m here,” Collison said. “I don’t see why I wouldn’t want to be here. I never said I wanted to not be here. I’ve never complained, not one bit since I’ve been here.”

Collison is a family man that was looking for a place to settle down when he signed a three-year, $15 million deal in the summer of 2014. He started 45 games for the Kings last season before an injury ended his season.

“It’s tough when you have a family, you have kids enrolled in school, but the NBA doesn’t really care about that stuff,” Collison said. “At least team’s, they’ve got to do what’s best for the organization and you kind of have to move forward with it.”

Before Wednesday’s unfortunate situation, Collison’s name was one of the few Kings players that not been brought up in multiple trade rumors.
