Wild-card projections: Where FanGraphs ranks A's ahead of MLB playoffs

Grab your crystal ball, fam -- we're about to make some predictions.

Only these are less jarring since we have only a few weeks left in the MLB regular season, and these are backed by numbers because I know how some of you guys can get.

Currently, the A's (there are games currently being played as this is being written) are atop the AL wild-card race standings with the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Indians closely behind.

For now, we have a few numbers from FanGraphs that project the Green and Gold to have a high chance of making the playoffs: 89.1 percent of a chance to be exact.

The Rays projection: 73.9 percent

The Indians projection: 37.6 percent

The A's have a 2.5 percent chance of not only making it to the World Series but popping champagne in a room full of plastic and winning the whole thing.

The Rays are a bit above them at a 4.7 percent chance of winning the World Series.

Both the New York Yankees and the Houston Astros, the A's biggest AL competition heading into the autumn months, both have a 100 percent chance of making the playoffs. And while that goes without saying, the Yankees are actually behind the Astros with a 16.1 percent chance of winning the World Series. The Astros have a 31.7 percent.
