VISALIA -- Joey Bart found himself in an early hole during the first at-bat of his San Jose Giants debut Thursday night.
Visalia Rawhide starting pitcher Jeff Bain cruised in a 1-1 fastball, and the Giants' top prospect swung through the pitch with a hack that could have sent it far over the left-field fence had he connected. Two pitches later, Bart made up for the miss.
Bart's first hit and first RBI for San Jose came on a two-strike single to right field that scored leadoff batter Bryce Johnson, giving the Giants an early 1-0 lead.

The catcher is batting fourth in the Giants' lineup on Opening Day, following No. 2 prospect Heliot Ramos.
In Ramos' first at-bat, he hit a hard grounder to shortstop, but Jancarlos Cintron made a nice sliding play to throw him out.
