The Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously Friday to rename the road which leads up to Dodgers Stdium, as "Vin Scully Avenue" in honor of the iconic broadcaster.
Scully, 88, is set to begin his 67th and final season this year where we will hear his legendary calls one last time.
Councilman Gail Cedillo made the motion to change Elysian Park Avenue and instead honor Scully. The vote was unanimous with 12 people in favor and none against the renaming.

"I am overwhelmed," Scully said. "I was raised in the streets of New York and to have a street named after me in Los Angeles is almost too much to comprehend. I am eternally grateful to the Los Angeles City Council and especially councilman Gil Cedillo."
Before the news becomes official, there will be a 30-day period for public comment, then a second vote will be presented to the council to enact the ordinance.
"Vin Scully is the voice of baseball, not just the Dodgers," said Cedillo. "It's so fitting to have this named after him."
Scully's first broadcasting gig for a professional team was with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1950 and he hasn't looked back since. The New York native followed the team to Los Angeles in 1958 and will wrap up his career with the mic this season.

"A path to Dodger Stadium is a pathway to my heart," Scully said. "For 55 years, it has been an honor to walk that road to one of the greatest entertainment centers in the world, a place that has brought so much joy to all of us. I thank God for this great honor."
