Two Giants test positive for coronavirus, bringing team total to four

The Giants confirmed Monday that two more of their players have tested positive for the coronavirus. They did not release the names at this point.

"No additional positive results for players or staff were received," The Giants said in a statement. "The impacted individuals have been placed in self-isolation and will continue until MLB protocols for discontinuing isolation have been satisfied, including clearance by the Giants medical staff. Contract tracing for both was conducted and resources and protocols are in place to ensure these individuals receive the best medical care."

That brings the numbers of Giants who have tested positive for COVID-19 up to four players. Prospect Hunter Bishop and pitcher Luis Madero also tested positive.

Due to the pandemic, a number of players around MLB have opted out of the 60-game shortened season, including Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher David Price. Giants catcher Buster Posey also hasn't firmly committed to playing this season due to the risks.

"I think there's still some reservation on my end as well," Posey said. "I think I want to see kind of how things progress here over the next couple of weeks. I think it would be a little bit maybe naive or silly not to gauge what's going on around you, not only around you here but paying attention to what's happening in the country and different parts of the country.

"Obviously it's unprecedented times right now. Most definitely I've thought about [opting out] and talked about it with my wife quite a bit."
