Three years later, Puig responds to Goff's angry tweet

On Thursday night, the Los Angeles Rams selected Jared Goff with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

On Friday morning, Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig tweeted at the former Cal quarterback.

"@JaredGoff16 Big hug, Welcome to LA, I show you around, be my guest to @Dodgers game #PuigYourFriend #PuigNotLate"

The tweet was not unsolicited.

At 2:57am on Monday, July 29, 2013, Goff sent out the following tweet:

"I really hope Yasiel Puig gets a fastball in his ribs tomorrow."

Why did Goff, who had never taken a snap for Sonny Dykes and the Bears at that point, feel that way?

That Sunday afternoon, Puig crushed an 0-1 pitch over the fence to give the Dodgers a 1-0 walk-off victory over the Reds.

Puig flipped his bat and raised his hands in celebration before rounding the bases. Then he slid into home plate as his teammates waited to mob him.

"Each player does what he can when he gets to the plate. Some people jump, some people slide, some people run," Puig said through a translator. "I have a previous teammate in Cuba that jumped and hurt his ankle. So I decided to slide."

Goff, who grew up in Marin County, is an avid Giants fan.

In fact, on May 28, 2015, Brandon Crawford's ground-rule double bounced right to Goff, who was wearing a Tim Lincecum Giants jersey in the left-field bleachers.

Stay tuned to see if Goff responds to Puig on Twitter.

Or perhaps, Goff will be throwing out the first pitch at an upcoming Dodgers game...
