The Lonely Island ready to bash during A's wild-card game vs. Rays

The A's will host the Tampa Bay Rays in Wednesday night's AL Wild Card Game at the Coliseum, and The Lonely Island is ready to bash.

The comedy rap group tweeted their congratulations Saturday after the team clinched home-field for Wednesday's win-and-in game, including a GIF from their A's-inspired Netflix special, "The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience."

Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer starred as Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire, respectively, in their nod to the Bash Brothers in May's Beyoncé-style visual album. Samberg, Schaffer and Jorma Taccone are Berkeley natives and lifelong A's fans, and the Green and Gold returned the favor by playing tracks at the Coliseum one day after the special's release.

A's manager Bob Melvin said he expects 50,000 people at the Coliseum on Wednesday. Could three of them be the minds behind "Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping?"

One thing is clear: Silk robes and kimonos will be acceptable wild-card game-day attire.
