The A's love launch angle and hitting dingers

If you're a baseball fan who loves launch angle, you'll love the 2018 Oakland A's.

The A's lead Major League Baseball in average launch angle by a team this season by a wide margin. And the results are dingers. Lots of them.

Going into Wednesday's schedule of games, the A's are third in home runs with 199 behind the Yankees (234) and Dodgers (203). The A's have five players with at least 20 home runs this season -- Khris Davis (41), Matt Olson (25), Stephen Piscotty (23), Matt Chapman (22), and Jed Lowrie (21).

The major league average in launch angle has continually been on the rise. In 2018, major league hitters have an average launch angle of 12.4 degrees. Davis, who is the MLB leader in home runs, is at 18 degrees

Look away Giants fans. As you can see from the graph above, the Giants rank 20th in launch angle. They're even worse when it comes to actually hitting home runs, tied for second worst in baseball with only 125.

Gorkys Hernandez, who didn't hit a single home run in 2017, and Evan Longoria, lead the Giants with 15 home runs apiece. Hernandez's average launch angle is barely above league average at 12.6 degrees, while Longoria is slightly higher at 13.6. Both aren't exactly Davis degrees.

Dipping and ripping has led to a lot of wins this season for the A's. The A's (88-57) have already won 13 more games this season than last, and are 3.5 games back in the AL West while holding down the second AL wild-card spot.

The Giants on the other hand, are in the midst of their first 10-game losing streak since 1996.

There's a simple lesson here kids -- hit dingers.
