Soriano takes shot at city of San Francisco

You can never tell how its going for Alfonso Soriano at the plate, because hes always the same guy, no matter whats written or blasted out on the talk shows.

So there was Soriano on Friday morning, holding court at the breakfast table in the middle of the clubhouse, joking around on the field before stretch, calling everyone babe.

Soriano had a big smile on his face, and he wasnt wearing a San Francisco Giants uniform. As Ryan Dempster once said: Its awesome being the hammer and not the nail.

The first-place Giants watched Soriano slam a pitch from Madison Bumgarner onto Waveland Avenue, and that two-run bomb in the third inning set the tone in a 6-4 victory closed out by Carlos Marmol (the other piece of trade bait).

Soriano also put the first run on the board with a two-out single to left. Between that nice piece of hitting, and a power surge that has seen him hit 24 homers in his last 91 games, he sure looks like he could be a difference-maker in a pennant race.

I feel sorry for them, Soriano said, because if they tried to pick me because they know what I can do, then I tried to show them today.
