Surprised Giants fans didn't elect a 'ball dude' to start at 3B.""Wright vs. Sandoval: A city of 8 million was outvoted by a city of 800,000."
Wright is hitting .351 with 11 home runs and 59 RBIs over 82 games. Sandoval has a .307 average, with eight home runs and 30 RBIs in 51 games and admitted to being slightly surprised to edge out Wright. On his selection to the All-Star Game
"I'm excited. Like I always say, it's exciting to be a part of the starting lineup with my teammates. All the support (the fans) do) for us, it's exciting. I get impressed. Every time 42, 000 ... 40,000 people vote for us. It's exciting to be part of that.On Matt Cain starting for the National League"I'm happy. I'm happy to see Cain. He do his thing out there. He deserved that, all the things he's been doing during the season, the perfect game. He deserved to be the starting pitcher for the National League."On being named a starter for the All-Star Game"(I was) surprised a little bit because David Wright is having a great season. I saw some great plays. Beating him is tough because New York has got pretty good fans. But I think this moment showed me that Giants fans are better than New York."On Buster Posey starting a year after his injury"I'm happy for him. He's been through a lot of things, his ankle surgery. He missed all season last year. To get back the way he got back, it's tough. He deserves to be here. He's a great player, great hitter. I'm happy to see my teammate not just for one year but a couple of years. I know him very well. He's a great guy, such a great teammate, so I'm happy for him to be here."
