For the first time since they filled Oracle Park to say goodbye to Bruce Bochy in September of 2019, Giants fans will be back at home games -- but there are some serious restrictions.
The Giants announced on Thursday morning that they have been given approval from San Francisco health officials to have up to 22 percent capacity for their home opener on April 9, but under a directive from the city, all fans 12-and-up must either have proof of vaccination for COVID-19 or a recent negative test result to attend a game.
There are multiple ways to get this done, as the Giants laid out in a press release:
The 22 percent number allows the Giants to have a little more than 9,000 in the park initially, although team officials aren't sure if the number will be that high for the opener. Because of the way seats are laid out at Oracle Park and rules about distancing, the final number might be a bit lower.

In addition to vaccine and testing rules, the Giants have other regulations. Fans must not attend games if they have symptoms of COVID-19, even if they are vaccinated. Inside the ballpark, they will be seated in socially distanced pods in one of nine designated zones throughout the ballpark, which come with specific entry and exit gates, concession stands and restrooms.

Fans are not allowed to gather in large groups before or after games and while inside the park, they must wear masks and practice social distancing. In terms of food and beverages, fans can order via a mobile app and then pick up their selections at a concession stand in their seating zone. The Giants are finalizing a menu that will be standard throughout the ballpark at the start of the season.
