It was an eventful outing for Carlos Rodón on Tuesday night at Chase Field.
On the same night he booted a bat out of frustration that hit teammate Thairo Estrada in the dugout, Rodón made a kick save on the mound -- one of the strangest defensive plays you’ll see.
Battling Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Jake McCarthy in the sixth inning, Rodón got him to swing at a 0-1 slider. McCarthy sent a sharp ground ball right back at Rodón, who jumped to try and get out of the way but did so unsuccessfully, as the ball bounced off his left foot.

Rodón scrambled to find the ball after the ricochet. To everyone's surprise -- especially Rodón -- the baseball was in his glove.
Unfortunately for Rodón and the Giants, it was just about the only break they received Tuesday night in the 7-3 loss to the Diamondbacks.
