Darin Ruf is on the move once again.
The veteran first baseman/outfielder inked a one-year deal with the Milwaukee Brewers, the club announced Monday.
Ruf was active for Milwaukee's game against the Cardinals in St. Louis on Monday night but was not in the starting lineup.
The signing comes less than a week after the Giants designated Ruf for assignment to create a 40-man roster spot for top infield prospect Casey Schmitt. The 36-year-old Ruf opted for free agency over a minor league assignment with San Francisco.
Ruf, who played for the Giants for two-plus seasons from 2020 to 2022, returned to the organization in April on a minor league deal after being DFA'd and released by the Mets. The Giants dealt Ruf to New York last August for J.D. Davis and three prospects.
Ruf logged 23 at-bats over nine appearances in his second stint with San Francisco, hitting .261/.370/.348 with three RBI. He also spent time on the injured list due to right wrist inflammation.
