Roberts wants double or nothing bet with Bochy on Giants-Dodgers

Dave Roberts is a glutton for punishment.

The Los Angeles Dodgers manager already lost a bet to former Giants manager Bruce Bochy on the outcome of the NL West race. With the 107-win Giants edging the 106-win Dodgers by one game, Roberts has to buy Bochy dinner and a nice bottle of Bordeaux.

But Roberts isn't ready to pay up just yet, and the Dodgers manager wants to go double-or-nothing with Bochy on the historic NLDS matchup between the rivals.

"Yes, I am," Roberts said Wednesday night when asked about doubling down on the bet after the Dodgers' walk-off win over the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Wild Card Game. "I'm going to shoot him a text tonight. Yeah, we're going to go double or nothing on the series."

The Giants and Dodgers were the two best teams in baseball all season, and Roberts knows the challenge San Francisco will present to the defending World Series champions.

"I know we all are," Roberts said when asked if he was looking forward to facing the Giants. "Like I said earlier, it's great for baseball. They think a lot of the way we think as far as platoon matchup advantage. There's a lot of familiarity which makes it fun and even more challenging. It's going to be a great series."
