Giants general manager Scott Harris is the latest front office executive to be linked to the New York Mets, but he reportedly won't be going anywhere.
The New York Post's Mike Puma and The Athletic's Andrew Baggarly reported Monday that Harris spoke to the Mets about their vacant president of baseball operations job.
While Puma reported that Harris is "unlikely to leave San Francisco," Baggarly reported that the second-year GM "declined to be a candidate" for the Mets' front office vacancy.

Michael Mayer, the executive editor for two Mets minor league news sites -- Metsmerized and MetsMinors.net -- first reported Monday morning that Harris and the Mets had spoken.
Harris, a native of Redwood City, joined the Giants' front office following the 2019 MLB season after spending seven years in the Chicago Cubs' front office, where he served as director of baseball operations and most recently as the assistant general manager to GM Jed Hoyer. Harris was part of the franchise when they won the 2016 World Series, ending the Cubs' 108-year title drought.
Along with Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi, Harris has helped turn the Giants around, building them into the 107-win team that won the NL West in 2021.

The Giants weren't expected to contend in 2021, but several under-the-radar signings and trades by Harris and Zaidi sped up the timeline, and now San Francisco is looking to stay atop the NL West for years to come.
Harris is the latest executive with Bay Area ties to be linked to the Mets. Athletics' vice president of baseball operations Billy Beane was rumored to be a top candidate for the job, but also withdrew his name from consideration, The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported last week.

Over the weekend, The New York Daily News reported, citing league sources, that longtime Giants executive Brian Sabean has interest in the Mets' front office job, though it's unclear if the two sides have spoken or if the Mets have requested permission to speak to Sabean.
The Cubs knew Harris was going to be in demand when Zaidi called in 2019, and San Francisco might not be the last stop of his career, but for now, it appears Harris is staying put to help build the Giants into perennial contenders.
